Chance's Room

Hello, my name is Chance and welcome to my room in the nest. I am a 15 year old Band Nerd (I play the Baritone and the French Horn) who likes girls, talking on the phone, music and the computer. I also like to chat online.

I am in my first year of High School and it is interesting to say the least. I go to dances (something I really never liked doing before) and attend all the school functions. Of course I go to all the Football Games since I play in the Marching Band.

Our Band is one of the best in Louisiana and also in the Southwest.

We attended the Bands Of America Competition in Houston last September and that was something else. That was my first time to do something like that and when we got off the field, I didn't remember anything! I was so nervous and a bit scared, but it was thrilling just the same.

We also went to Florida and that was my first time there. The day we performed was a day Florida had horrible weather. There were tornadoes and rain and it was bad! The next day was so cold but beautiful so our director let us go out on the beach and rough-house for awhile before we had to leave for home. Oh, in that competition we came out 3rd out of 12 bands. Not bad, huh?

The following month we performed here in Lafayette for the Southwest Competition and we came out FIRST! You should have heard the stadium roar. We are not allowed to show any emotion when we either win or lose; our band director says it shows unsportsmanship-like conduct. So, we had to stand rigid and wait until we got back to the buses to really let go. I think people heard us for miles around, :-).

We are selling Bar-B-Q tickets right now to raise money for our trip to Washington D.C. in May. That will be a first for me and I can hardly wait. We will be gone for 7 days to perform in the Grand Nationals in Tennessee and then the Apple Blossom Parade in Virginia. We will tour D.C. afterwards! I am really looking forward to that trip. To see the Nation's Capital and all! WOW!

Now you know why I call myself a "Band Nerd". I am really into my music and my director told me I had a really good chance to be able to receive a scholarship, through my music, to attend college and those are my plans.

Well, thank you for stopping by, I really enjoyed your visit. Please visit my sisters and brother if you feel up to it. Also, please sign my guestbook. All four of us share one, so when you sign, if you would just put my name in it so I will know the message is for me. I promise to visit your home soon and will sign your book too. Come back soon, it was fun.

Oh, if you click on the "Links" bar, you can see some pictures of me and one is on the field during a competition.
